They say you can be free in America.
The right to marry the person you love is a recent development in this country. Interracial marriage was legalized only 58 years ago, and same-sex marriage became legal just a decade ago. Today, queer couples across the nation are worried that their right to marry their loved ones may be revoked. And every day, couples are being broken apart as mass deportation events target immigrants and people of color regardless of their citizenship status. The current presidential administration's attack on equality, civil rights, safe space protections, and mass deportation efforts are causing fear and heartache nationwide.
This act is a reflection of the real stories unfolding in our country at this moment. It speaks to the pain and the longing of families divided, of communities being broken apart by the policies that turn lives upside down. Let us remember that behind every separation is a human story, the American dream interrupted. This is the story of a couple in love. A couple that discovers their love is unsafe. They can not be free in America.
We highly encourage everyone to visit the website ImmigrantDefenseProject.org to learn about your rights and how you can help others if ICE shows up near you. And everyone, please continue to speak up for your community and neighbors; we will go through this together.

Go sing, too loud
Make your voice break
Sing it out
Go scream, do shout
Make an earthquake

You and sunrise will never fall under
We should always know that dreams can do everything
